Man oh man... we are tired of seeing people work so hard writing their blog post on their website, only to share it on LinkedIn completely wrong in a way that does NOT get people to actually visit their website.
That's hopefully why you're here! Today, we're going to teach you how to successfully share your blog on LinkedIn to gain as many clicks as possible.
The WRONG way to Share a Blog Post on LinkedIn

More often that not, people simply write a short caption and add the link to their blog that they want people to click on. Here's why that is NOT the best way to share your blog on LinkedIn:
1. The algorithm does not promote posts with links
According to our data that we've collected over the past 3 years, LinkedIn posts that contain links within the caption consistently underperform (garner less impressions) than posts without a link.
Why is this? Well, LinkedIn's main goal is to keep users on the platform for as long as possible because the more ads they can show, the more money LinkedIn generates for themselves. LinkedIn makes money every time you view an ad on their platform! So, if you have a link in your post that leads people to get off of LinkedIn, then they make less money since that user is not on the platform anyone (AKA they are not seeing any advertisements).
2. Less Screen Real Estate
When you publish your LinkedIn post with a simple link, your post is very small on the LinkedIn feed (example above). On mobile, you are now competing against 2 other posts (1 above and 1 below) that are on a viewers feed.
This makes them less likely to stop and actually read your post.
3. It adds to the Clutter
If EVERYONE shares their blog this way, then your content will never stand out. It will be part of the mass clutter you might see on your feed right now. You want your post to stand out and capture people's attention!! That will lead to the most clicks to your blog.
The RIGHT way to Share a Blog Post on LinkedIn

Alrighty, we just went over the 'do nots' of promoting your blog on LinkedIn, so now, we can dive into how you should do it!
1. Link your Blog in the comment Section
I know we said to not add your blog link to caption, but we never said the comment section was not allowed. A great spot to put your link is in the comments, so that people can still click on the post without LinkedIn hindering the reach of your post.
2. Add an "ask for my blog" call-to-action (CTA) in your caption
Now, you may be asking, "how will people see the link in the comment section?!" You're right to have those concerns since the link is more hidden in the comment section than in your post. That's why you want to have a call-to-action at the bottom of your post to "Comment below for the link."
Not only will you receive more comments which increases the reach of your post, but you're able to engage directly with people that are interested in the topic you are writing about. We recommend sending it to them via direct message as that could spark opportunity for further conversation and conversion!
3. Use a relevant photo
On LinkedIn, you always want to use a high quality, vertical photo whenever you can because it takes up more screen space when someone is scrolling. With a vertical photo, you can take up someone's ENTIRE screen on their desktop or mobile device. They literally HAVE to view your post.
In addition, you want the photo to be relevant to the topic you wrote about. Not only do you want to have yourself in it (this increases engagement a LOT since people in your network want to support you), but it also adds a genuine 'feel' to the post.
Using a simple graphic will also add to the clutter that is already on LinkedIn, but a relevant photo with you in it allows you to stand out and capture attention.
4. Your post summarizes the blog post
Lastly, provide REAL value to your audience without making them read your blog post. As much as you want them to visit your website, it's more important to maintain your credibility of publishing high quality LinkedIn content. That said, give people a synopsis of what is in the blog. If they still really care about the topic, they will click! If they click, that should signal to you that they could be a great prospect for you.
Great! Now you're ready to post your latest blog on LinkedIn and maximize the number of clicks on it.
